AEIOU Interpreter Training Program
The total cost for the program is $700. This price includes: 40 hours of instruction, medical glossary, textbook/workbook, language assessment (must receive a minimum rating of advanced low or higher), and certificate of completion.
WHAT IS COMMUNITY INTERPRETING?
Community Interpreting includes medical, educational and social services interpreting. Interpreters in this field help to ensure that Limited English Proficient (LEP) individuals have equal access to community services.
WHY BECOME A COMMUNITY INTERPRETER?
Interpreting is one of the fastest growing professions in the world. To become a qualified interpreter in the field completing an accredited 40 hour training program is considered the minimum requirement. This program is also a prerequisite to take the National exam for certification.
WHO CAN ENROLL IN THE PROGRAM?
Anyone who is at least 18 years old, have a high school diploma or GED, and is fluent in English and one other language. You will have to pass a language assessment in your non-dominant language.
HOW CAN I ENROLL?
Pay the application fee which will allow you to take the language assessment. After you pass the language assessment you may enroll in the AEIOU Interpreter Training Program. After completing the program you will be a "Professionally Trained Interpreter", qualified to take the National Exam and become certified in the field.
